To apply to Accreditation Body for transition and be ready to apply new requirements by 1st May 2023.
Complete Gap Analysis by 31st December 2022.

Transition plan to address the following:

Identify the changes between new and old version.

Typical processes considered for changes can include sales/quoting, auditing process, competence management and communication with existing certified clients. By 31st March 2023.
Analyse impact of changes on relevant activities/processes and identify required actions to ensure conformance (e.g., management system/documents, IT tools).

By 28th Feb 2023.
Implement required actions.

By 31st March 2023.

Ensure that relevant personnel affected by the changes are competent for the revised version and transition process. Personnel may include, but not be limited to, auditor, reviewers of audit report, certification decision maker, contract reviewer, planner.
Training shall be imparted to the above personnel by 31st December 2022.
Related competency evaluation shall be completed by 31st March 2023.

Transition policy for ISO 22003-1:2022

Transition Requirements for ISO 22003-1:2022

ISO 22003-1:2022 is the international standard for Food safety — Part 1: Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of food safety management systems. The new version was released in December 2022.

As per IAF, a three-year transition period will be allowed for this new edition in addition to the certain timelines set by IAF in IAF MD 27, see below:

IAF MD 27: 2023 – Transition Requirements for ISO 22003-1:2022, this document provides information on transition requirements of normative documents ISO/TS 22003:2013 to ISO 22003-1:2022 to be followed by, with the scope as detailed in this document. The transition time allowed by IAF is 3 years from the date of publication of ISO 22003-1:2022.

While the ISO/TS 22003:2013 will remain valid during the three-year transition period.

Policy on Transition to ISO/IEC 27001:2022 for the clients

Transition to ISO/IEC 27001:2022

Introduction:

Currently, the Management Systems accreditation schemes are based on ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015, supplemented by sector specific ISO/IEC standards, as applicable.

ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Information security, cybersecurity and privacy protection â€” Information security management systems â€” Requirements was published in October 2022.

IAF MD 26: 2022 - Transition Requirements for ISO/IEC 27001:2022

This document provides information on transition requirements of normative documents ISO/IEC 27001:2013 to ISO/IEC 27001:2022. The transition time allowed by IAF is 3 years from the date of publication of ISO/IEC 27001:2022.

(Refer to IAF MD 26 for more details and actions required).

Date of Implementation of Transition Policy: 01 April 2023

MS Cert has adopted ISO/IEC 27001:2022, based on the accreditation scope in accordance with ISO/IEC 27006 along with ISO/IEC 17021-1 standards.

MS Cert is required to evaluate the operations and planning of all certified clients on the earlier version, to ensure that all transitions are completed by 31st October 2025.

This policy shall apply to all certified clients and applicant units certified or applied for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) Certification as per ISO 27001:2013 standard.

All units certified to ISO 27001:2013 shall apply for transition by 31st March 2024.

Transition audit can be done during the surveillance / recertification audit.

MS Cert will be ready to carry out transition assessment against ISO/IEC 27001:2022 from 1st April 2023.

This can be part of the upcoming office assessment (surveillance / reassessment) with addition of 0.5 man-day onsite for assessing compliance to transition requirements. If this is planned as a separate assessment, 1.0 assessment man-day will be considered for the transition assessment.

Clients whose applications are currently under process as per ISO/IEC 27001:2013 and for whose initial stage 1 /2 audit have been completed, shall be required to complete the accreditation process by 31st March 2023.

Such units will be required to submit their plan for implementation of ISO/IEC 27001:2022 by 31st March 2023, and will be required to undergo early first.

GUIDELINES FOR TRANSITION FROM ISO 22000:2005 TO ISO 22000:2018

The 2018 version of ISO 22000 was published on June 19 2018. With this release, ISO 22000:2005 will be withdrawn. Companies certified to the ISO 22000:2005 standard have to upgrade their certificate to ISO 22000:2018, and there is a 3-year transition period until June 18 2021.

Accordingly, all certificates issued under ISO 22000:2005 will not be valid after 18th June 2021. The expiry date of certification to ISO 22000:2005 issued during the transition period shall be the end of the transition period i.e Jnue 19, 2021.

GUIDELINES FOR TRANSITION FROM ISO 22000:2005 TO ISO 22000:2018

For the Certified organizations using ISO 22000:2005 :

1. Identify the organisational gaps which needs to be addressed to meet new requirements
2. Develop an implementation plan
3. Provide appropriate training and awareness for all parties that have an impact on the effectiveness of the organization.
4. update the existing Quality management system to meet the revised requirements and provide verification of the effectiveness.

MS Cert will perform transition process in the phased manner as under:-

New Applications:

MS Cert will start accepting new application on ISO 22000:2018 from 1st Jan 2019.
MS Cert will not accept any new applications as per ISO 22000:2005 from 19th June 2020.
All applications thereafter will be accepted only as ISO 22000:2018.
The validity of the certificates granted to organizations as per ISO 22000:2005 is upto 18th June 2021 only which may be increased to make the certificate valid for a full three years after ascertaining the conformity to ISO 22000:2018.

Existing Certified Clients:

MS Cert will start accepting transition application on ISO 22000:2018 from 1st January 2019.

Existing Client need to apply through submission of filled application /information form for quotation (F03) along with the copy of their existing certificate of old version.

Existing client can appear for transition during their ongoing surveillance or recertification schedules. However MS Cert will conduct additional audit of 0.5 to 1 manday extra to its normal surveillance or recertification mandays.For Client offered with initial audit upto 10 mandays will be considered for additional 0.5 Manday and Client offered with initial audit more than 10 mandays will be considered for additional 1 Manday for auditing transition requirements.

If any client appears in transition audit other than its scheduled surveillance or recertification then the transition audit man-day will be considered as per its normal surveillance audit man days. MS Cert will undertake all audits including surveillance or recertification as per ISO 22000:2018 only from 19th June,2020, if the client not applied for transition at their own before 19th June ,2020. However, any non compliance with the new requirements will be treated as Non Compliance without impacting the certification status of the client.

The nonconformities pending on 19th June , 2021 may affect the certification status of the organization depending upon the severity and may lead to cancellation of the certification granted.

The certificates of organizations who fail to complete the transition by 18th June , 2021 will be treated as invalid (related certification information will also be removed from MS Cert Website) however the certificate may be reinstated after ensuring the compliance with ISO 22000:2018.Clients who fails to apply or meet the transition requirement within the stipulated time as mentioned above need to apply as fresh client as per ISO 22000:2018.

The certification to ISO 22000:2018 will be made only after MS Cert ensure that the outstanding findings/ non conformities have been addressed and reviewed satisfactory.
