Transition Policy

ISO 50003:2014 to ISO 50003:2021

  • To apply to Accreditation Body for transition and be ready to apply new requirements by 1st May 2023.
  • Complete Gap Analysis by 31st December 2022.

Transition plan to address the following:

  • Identify the changes between new and old version.

    Typical processes considered for changes can include sales/quoting, auditing process, competence management and communication with existing certified clients. By 31st March 2023.

  • Analyse impact of changes on relevant activities/processes and identify required actions to ensure conformance (e.g., management system/documents, IT tools).

    By 28th Feb 2023.

  • Implement required actions.

    By 31st March 2023.

  • Ensure that relevant personnel affected by the changes are competent for the revised version and transition process. Personnel may include, but not be limited to, auditor, reviewers of audit report, certification decision maker, contract reviewer, planner.
  • Training shall be imparted to the above personnel by 31st December 2022.
  • Related competency evaluation shall be completed by 31st March 2023.

Transition Requirements for ISO 22003-1:2022

ISO 22003-1:2022 is the international standard for Food safety — Part 1: Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of food safety management systems. The new version was released in December 2022.

As per IAF, a three-year transition period will be allowed for this new edition in addition to the certain timelines set by IAF in IAF MD 27, see below:

IAF MD 27: 2023 – Transition Requirements for ISO 22003-1:2022, this document provides information on transition requirements of normative documents ISO/TS 22003:2013 to ISO 22003-1:2022 to be followed by, with the scope as detailed in this document. The transition time allowed by IAF is 3 years from the date of publication of ISO 22003-1:2022.

While the ISO/TS 22003:2013 will remain valid during the three-year transition period.

  • To apply to Accreditation Body for transition and be ready to apply new requirements by 1st December 2024.

Transition to ISO/IEC 27001:2022

Introduction:

Currently, the Management Systems accreditation schemes are based on ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015, supplemented by sector specific ISO/IEC standards, as applicable.

ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Information security, cybersecurity and privacy protection — Information security management systems — Requirements was published in October 2022.

IAF MD 26: 2022 - Transition Requirements for ISO/IEC 27001:2022

This document provides information on transition requirements of normative documents ISO/IEC 27001:2013 to ISO/IEC 27001:2022. The transition time allowed by IAF is 3 years from the date of publication of ISO/IEC 27001:2022.

(Refer to IAF MD 26 for more details and actions required).

Date of Implementation of Transition Policy: 01 April 2023

MS Cert has adopted ISO/IEC 27001:2022, based on the accreditation scope in accordance with ISO/IEC 27006 along with ISO/IEC 17021-1 standards.

MS Cert is required to evaluate the operations and planning of all certified clients on the earlier version, to ensure that all transitions are completed by 31st October 2025.

This policy shall apply to all certified clients and applicant units certified or applied for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) Certification as per ISO 27001:2013 standard.

All units certified to ISO 27001:2013 shall apply for transition by 31st March 2024.

Transition audit can be done during the surveillance / recertification audit.

MS Cert will be ready to carry out transition assessment against ISO/IEC 27001:2022 from 1st April 2023.

This can be part of the upcoming office assessment (surveillance / reassessment) with addition of 0.5 man-day onsite for assessing compliance to transition requirements. If this is planned as a separate assessment, 1.0 assessment man-day will be considered for the transition assessment.

Clients whose applications are currently under process as per ISO/IEC 27001:2013 and for whose initial stage 1 /2 audit have been completed, shall be required to complete the accreditation process by 31st March 2023.

Such units will be required to submit their plan for implementation of ISO/IEC 27001:2022 by 31st March 2023, and will be required to undergo early first.
